Original Erie Canal

Since we were traveling on the "Barge" Canal, and not the actual Erie Canal, we stopped at Schoharie Crossing and visited the original Erie Canal museum.  Schoharie Crossing had remnants of the original canal and the enlarged canal.  The current canal is named the "barge" canal.

We walked across a bridge, through a neighborhood, and then past the corn field to get to the site.  Well worth the extra effort!  It was amazing how narrow the original canal was.
